Senior Instructor of Anatomy

Anatomy teaching comes to a close…

Friday, Dec 9 marked the end of my involvement in anatomy for 2011.

I had been in lecture and lab across four different anatomy courses since June 6.

In these six months I have learned so much anatomy in addition to pointers on how teaching style differs between undergraduate and graduate anatomy education.

I feel very comfortable in my ability to relate to the study habits and tools of the millennial generation of students I’ll be teaching next year.

I learned that creating vector illustrations of the complex drawings my senior instructors drew in lecture was helpful to the students, but that they tended to focus on them as primary notes instead of supplements to their course notes. I think I’ll try transforming these drawings into worksheet like templates that they need to add to instead of simply print and bring to lectures.

Now I prepare my first lectures for Summer 2012. This is so exciting and I’ll keep you posted on my progress.
